I find the daily crossword in the newspaper far less frustrating. And turning my brain off around other people I don't trust sounds like a recipe for being pickpocketed.
It isn't. If you need mace, I have plenty of it. I would strongly encourage that over guns. You don't have to aim nearly as much, you're not going to accidentally shoot someone, and it gets your point across in an excruciatingly painful way.
I figure it's fifty-fifty either the same thing happens again or the new bullets I bought will kill them. Either way I got away last time after sex. I think I could do so again.
If you know that gun might force a certain effect and you shoot someone with it, would you consider yourself at all responsible for inducing that effect in another person? Not to mention yourself. I don't know, Tim. Given the nature of that effect, it seems too risky. It's one thing when you didn't know about it. It seems like it might be another when you do.
[The fact that Tim doesn't immediately bite his head off about it is... progress? Tentative progress. Now Jon just has to figure out how to prevent the man from getting hold of a different gun. There must be license requirements. Can he report Tim for illegally firing a gun? Should he tell Wolf to?
But going behind Tim's back like that is exactly what the clone had been accusing him of. Jon doesn't want to be what Tim fears, a creature that just keeps sabotaging him.]
Would you take self-defense lessons with me from Tim Drake, instead? I honestly think you'll get more use out of them than having a gun. And he keeps pestering me about doing them. Having someone else to hold me accountable to them would be... useful.
I'm already taking them. He's a pretty good teacher and even better at knocking me to the floor, but I think getting some exercise would be good for you. And I mean more than what you get from lifting boxes of statments.
[He's taking self defence lessons already, he has mace, and a gun. Is Jon seeing the picture of how safe Tim has felt lately in this city?]
[Tim starts to make a joke about who hasn't thought about slugging their boss then stops. Images of his clone flash in his mind briefly and he changes his response.]
Maybe thinking about that sort of thing with your boss was just me with Elias, then. He's gone, by the way. I don't know if Hawke told you, but I did ask him. Just like that. I'm not sure it's quite as much of a relief as last time. He didn't have much time to do anything nefarious.
No, he didn't. I expect some part of it was the city severely limiting his abilities this go around. They did something to shake his connection with the Beholding. He was looking to me for answers on some things. Which was... unnerving. He was also from before things changed. He hadn't realized he'd won until I told him.

I've been mugged here more times than I can count in the past year and a half.
People apparently see something worth taking.

Regardless, I try to keep aware when I'm out and about.
It's safer that way.
[Not that he's doing a lot of going out just at the moment.]

I suppose trying to be safe isn't a bad idea.

And I'm taking lessons. I have more control now so I won't make that mistake again. [Hopefully.]

What exactly do you think might happen the next time you try to shoot someone?

You have a good point with that. I hadn't considered it in that way. I'll look into replacing it.

Maybe Sasha and Martin would be willing to join in.
Gerry, as well?
A taser might also be a better option than a gun until you're very good with one.

I mean, you could all beat me up, if that's easier.
I daresay it must have crossed all of your minds at some point.

Probably not that often.

It was... uncomfortable, really.
He kept touching me and trying tell me it was our world.

That must have been awkward and uncomfortable for you. [Is what he goes with in the end.]

He was stranger this time than before.
Gentler with me.
He kept trying to convince me he wanted to be my friend.
