Yeah, thanks for that. [Does he really believe that was still her? Maybe not, but being angry was easier then admitting he was worried for her.] And I recall you being burned and full of wax the last time I saw you. Sounds like you're doing just fine now.

I’ve been drugged before, by city officials. I know how unpleasant it is. Have you been keeping good company? It’s always worse alone.

[He's been keeping company. Still too early to say for sure if it was good company and he was still trying to find a contract. Not that he felt like he should share this type of information with Anges.]

Fine. Probably better company then what I was keeping back home.

Heard you and Jon got yourself arrested recently.

Next time can I suggest burning off Elias's arm instead of a guards?

I would have been arrested even if I had done nothing.

[Not that she at all disagrees with him.]

I couldn't reach him, otherwise I would have made him suffer.

Can't blame you there. Hopefully Jon can find a way to break your contract with that guy without going too far or doing something too stupid.

He's already done more than enough already. I can't even speak with him right now.

Perhaps I should rephrase. I don't want to talk to Jon right now. I disagree with his self-sacrificial choices.

I'm sure he'd appreciate being able to explain himself. He made a deal with Elias to get me out of prison against my own wishes, but I'll let him tell the details of that deal personally.

He did what? [It's hard to convey in text just how livid he is on the other end of the phone.]

I only found out because Elias saw fit to rub my face in the cost of my freedom. I don't know what he was thinking, but he couldn't have been thinking clearly.

Of course he did. Why do bad guys always have to love gloating? [Although he's never noticed her gloat--no. Nope. Not going to think like that right now.] Martin has gone again. Not sure if you've heard, but from what I understand he's Jon's sanity.

I hadn't heard, no.

[It makes her heart sink. It explains Jon's actions a bit more. He's grieving, he's trying to find something he can hold onto.]

I feel as if there's a lot I've missed over the past couple of weeks.
