Because I think we hostages deserve our own publication free of all the oversexed insanity that's pushed on all of us. I've always wanted to be a journalist, so I'd like to write about something that I don't completely disagree with.
[After a thought, she adds more.]
And what better time to do something completely crazy that you're absolutely unqualified for than when you find yourself in an alternate world under bizarre circumstances?
[Seriously? Like seriously, seriously? Sally feels absolutely elated--a part of her sure that he'd never go for it. She's never been the kind of girl who takes charge. Not of anything, ever.]
Sally Timms. Oh, and I was told I should let you know that I'm human.
[And the smile vanishes.] Did skeletonkeay tell you to tell me that? [Have a dislike for things that could easily kill you and suddenly it's the only thing you're known for. Why couldn't it be (in his humble opinion) for his smoking hot ass?]
Not exactly. He said I needed to be human to work with you. So I just figured letting you know would be part of that?
[It's definitely an odd requirement, in part because she came from a world where inhuman creatures (mostly) didn't exist. At least to the best part of her knowledge, which she doesn't really feel confident relying on at this point.]
I get it, though. I had a pretty bad experience before I got here.
Finally! Someone else who gets why I would be nervous! I just don't want to die by blindly trusting something! [As Tim doesn't think about how it's partly his language along with his toxic thoughts that people are having an issue with. Such as saying something instead of someone.]
Of course. I mean, for a lot of the people here, they're just used to it, I guess? So I can get why there are so many people who don't bat an eye. It's hard not to be wary, though, when magic and all that just seems to be used for dangerous purposes where you come from.
[At this point, of course, Sally has no idea just how far his "nervousness" goes, and why he's rubbed people the wrong way. She hasn't caught his use of the term something.]
Yes! That's my point! Not saying that humans can't also be dangerous, but at least we don't have magic. There is some sort of defence you can come up with for something a human can do! A human can't look at you and suddenly you're on fire. I think it should be more of a concern for people regardless if you're used to it or not.
Meeting up sounds like a great idea. We need to discuss the most important part of starting a publishing company - the name!
Are you a dominant? I can come to you if it's easier.
Edited (wrong icon! Very important to fix!) 2020-09-13 12:47 (UTC)
[For now, she decides to just focus on the topic of meeting up. The rest of it is a bit heavy for text, at least for her. Thinking about it all makes her paranoid and uneasy.]
Anywhere is fine, and anytime, too. I'm not really busy. I'm just working as a part-time receptionist right now. Is there anyplace you like? A cafe or something?
There's a small cafe I know of. Sells decent teas and coffee. [He sends over the address.] Sound good? I can meet you there in about two hours when I get off of work.
[And so she will be, waiting at a table outside with a tea she's already ordered for herself--chose to go with something calming so she wouldn't get the jitters. Undoubtedly, when Tim steers into view, the eighteen-year-old is going to be hoping that he's not the one she's meeting.
Why is everyone here so goddamn attractive? It makes her so nervous!]
[Tim is a little surprised by the youth that he spots waiting for him. Mostly because when he was younger he had been more focused on parties and adventures then working so he's impressed by Sally's dedication to this project.] Hello! [He greets warmly. Holding out his hand for shaking.] A pleasure to meet you. Sally, right?
[Yep, it's the hot guy. Figures. But probably good for business. He can, like, be the face, or whatever. Sally stands to shake his hand, banging her knee on the table in the process and wincing, swearing.]
[The corners of Tim's mouth might curl up just the tiiiiiniest of bits when he sees her hit the table, but otherwise is a gentleman and doesn't say anything about it. Taking her hand in a polite handshake and nod of his head.] Good to meet you as well. So, did you have some more thoughts on this proposed business venture?
[Sally sits again, clearing her throat, somewhat self-consciously running a hand through her hair.]
I have content ideas, mostly. And I figure we should get some kind of office? Don't know what you think we'll need to start--you know more about the business than I do.
Content ideas would be a great start. I have a feeling that you don't need me to tell you that if we just anything and everything we could potentially end up as targets to those that run this city. We might even end up punished for publishing something from a submissive that talks poorly on how this city runs.
Is that the sort of thing you were thinking of publishing? Anything and everything? Or were you thinking of catering to something more specific?
I wanted mostly to focus on the things that we're doing. Our businesses, our lives. At least for now, you're right, I don't want to make any waves. That's something you only really get away with when you have some sort of...notoriety.
[So maybe if that happens, but who knows, really.]
I've had more than one person suggest an anonymous advice column. Even if it was a joke, I have a feeling people would like it. For the most part, I think we all know what goes on here that we hate, so...something positive would be refreshing. Some kind of reference guide to getting to know our fellow LIERs, establish a sort of...community voice?
So, you're looking at starting up something closer to a newspaper or a magizine from the sounds of it. My expertize is with a different sort of publishing, but it shouldn't be too different.

I'm in. I'll see if I can get any of my coworkers interested in starting a small start-up publishing company. So, what's your name, boss?
