Wait. No. I take that back. I thought it was Elias's manipulation and control over Jon that made him act against his self-interest but perhaps it is just Jon.

I don't really feel like talking about Elias. Jon doesn't take the threat he is as seriously as he should.

I think Jon does take Elias quite seriously but that he also thinks the responsibility of taking care of that threat is something he should do by himself.

Something he entirely unequipped to do seeing as how I think Elias has spent a long time grooming Jon.

I didn't sign the first contract at all but no we are luckily not permanently contracted.

She knows there's little point in killing people at the very least. So far, I haven't heard of anyone who doesn't return and she seems not to want to invite the vengeance of the wrong person.

We need to get you away from her. What if the very day-- the very second your contract with her runs out you sign with me instead?

I told you this information to keep you safe. I am taking all the possible precautions I can with her and while we are contracted I keep her partially distracted from others. She knows she's being watched.
